The 10th Anniversary of Worker Together With Him

What is ten years? On one hand it is like a bucket of water tossed into the endless ocean of time. On the other hand, ten years is a pretty good portion of our mortal life. And today is the tenth anniversary since Workers Together With Him was incorporated on September 28, 1999.

We began this ministry with a simple goal – to discover the will of God for our lives and perform it. Growing the organization was never the goal. Growing in Christ was. I'm happy to say that ten years later, our goal remains the same. We have stayed true to our original vision and for that reason, our first ten years must be judged a success. All the wonderful trips and classes aside, this alone is what counts. Man for man, the only agenda is to "be about my Father's business" (Luke 2:49).

The name "Workers Together With Him" was never intended to describe the organization. The name describes the people in the organization. The people in this ministry are dedicated to working together with Christ and with each other. Like the fabled Musketeers, we are all for one and one for all.

As happens in any assembly of people, we've had our share of disagreements along the way. Some of the people who started out with us have found other people they prefer working together with. That, of course, is completely acceptable. We are not operating under the delusion that we are only workers together with Christ. I pray they are prospering in the Lord.

Mark 9:38–40:
And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us.
39 But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me.
40 For he that is not against us is on our part.

But for me, it is such a joy to know that our second decade together promises to be just that – a second decade. A person gets tired of starting over all the time. I have the joy of knowing that our time spent laboring "to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant" has not been in vain (see Jeremiah 1:10). The season of harvest is right around the corner. I glorify God for that, because I know that except for the hand of God upon our lives, none of this could be possible.

1 Corinthians 4:7:
For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive [as a gift]? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?

I am very humbled by and thankful for the people who spent the last decade laboring with me in our common cause. I haven't made it easy on anyone. Leading this ministry has been a new experience for me and I've had to do a lot of "learning as I go." I have made bad decisions, I have followed bad advice, and it usually took me making the same mistake over and over before I realized 1) that I was making a mistake and 2) how to fix it. But I'm happy to say that because of God's undying mercy I am still here, so I can keep trying to get it right.

The great thing is, I know I have no one I can blame for my mistakes but me. I have nowhere to run, because wherever I go, I'm still going to be there. And in the final analysis, it comes down to me and the Lord.

John 6:67-69:
Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?
68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.
69 And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.

God has given me a rare opportunity these past ten years, and I have tried my utmost to make the most of it. With his grace and mercy to sustain me, I fully intend to finish running this race. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for your prayers and assistance in things spiritual and material. May God bless you all.
